Hit Ability Type Description

Quadruple Crossing ×4 (+ 4 others) Cone spread (close)

A 4-step protean mechanic.

Have either all tanks and supports, or all DPS, take the first set of spreads by moving into the boss's hitbox while the other role stays outside and out of the way. Then swap. Avoid the baited AoEs after.

  • Same Bait

The 4 DPS players take the first set of spreads on intercardinals while the support players stay on cardinals. Then swap their positions: DPS players move to cardinals, while support players move inside the hitbox on intercardinals to take the second set of spreads. Afterwards, support players move back to where the DPS players are. No further dodges are necessary.

This is a 1-step movement for the first baiters and a 2-step movement for the second baiters, and is therefore the preferred PF strategy. You can swap the roles, but making DPS players the first baiters is preferred as it means less movement for the caster.

You should also decide whether to handle protean positions true north or boss relative.

  • Protean Baits

Assign a protean position for every player. Have 4 players move inside the hitbox for the first set while the other 4 stay outside, then the 4 players who were inside the hitbox move out of the hitbox while the other 4 move in. Afterwards, the first baiters move on top of the second baiters, wait for the first baited AoEs, then move to where those AoEs fired.

This is a 3-step movement for all players.

You should also decide whether to handle protean positions true north or boss relative.

    02:26
    Mouser (+ 10 others) Rectangle multi-AoE

Telegraphs a sequence of 28 AoEs across 10 steps, then executes that sequence.

Each AoE targets one tile (square) of the arena and damages that tile, inflicting Damage Down Damage Down to all players on it. A tile that is already damaged breaks when damaged again, causing all players on it to fall to their doom. A broken tile cannot be targeted by another AoE.

The arena is composed of 16 tiles (4x4), resulting in 32 tile "health states". Black Cat executes 3 AoEs per step for the first 8 steps, then 2 AoEs for the remaining 2 steps. 28 AoEs in total means that at the end of the mechanic 4 damaged tiles remain. These tiles are always oriented from west to east in a "checker" pattern. The broken tiles in-between are then restored at full health, but the northern and southern rows of tiles remain broken.

Between the four centermost tiles, the southeast tile will always be hit first, followed (after 4 steps) by the southwest tile. Either the southwest or southeast tile is targeted for another hit and destroyed.

Since the centermost southeast tile is always targeted first, begin by standing on the centermost southwest tile, then moving onto the southeast tile when it gets hit. During the telegraphs pay attention to which of these two tiles gets hit twice, then either move back onto the southwest tile after it gets hit, or stay on the southeast tile.

    Copycat Mechanic

Creates a clone of Black Cat at the western edge of the arena.

This clone then targets either all DPS players in sequence, or all support players in sequence, executing Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup) on 2 targets and Elevate and Eviscerate (Slam) on 2 targets.

The targeted player receives a paw marker atop their head.

    02:59
    02:59
Elevate and Eviscerate (+ 2 others) Mechanic

Black Cat's clone jumps behind the targeted player and executes either Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup) or Elevate and Eviscerate (Slam).

  • Intended

The intended strategy to handle this mechanic is to pay attention to the boss's stance and/or the glowing hand to determine whether Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup) or Elevate and Eviscerate (Slam) is about to be used. If it's Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup), stand on a damaged tile while facing an undamaged tile to get knocked back onto the undamaged tile. If it's Elevate and Eviscerate (Slam), simply stand on an undamaged tile.

All players not targeted should avoid standing on a tile in the same row or column as the targeted player's tile to avoid Shockwave. Also, as there are 2 undamaged tiles in the center and 2 undamaged tiles at the far edge, make sure to leave the inner tiles for melees.

  • Braindead

To avoid having to check which attack Black Cat's clone is about to use, situate yourself in the corner of an undamaged tile and look diagonally across to the opposite corner of the tile. This way, if it's Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup), you'll be knocked back onto the same tile you're already standing on.

Other players must still avoid Shockwave.

    Shockwave (+ 1 others) Knockback

Knocks back all players from the center of the arena. The distance of the knockback is slightly less than half the full diagonal length of the arena.

At the same time, restores the outer tiles of the arena. However, the restoration is staggered: first the northwest and southeast tiles are restored, then the southwest and northeast tiles, or vice-versa. The first set of tiles is restored before the knockback, the second set after the knockback.

After the knockback, triggers Grimalkin Gale, a spread on all players.

Determine which tiles are restored first, then split into light parties: light party 1 gets knocked back to the northern tiles that are restored first, light party 2 to the southern tiles. This is to make the subsequent spread easier.

If you're a melee, don't be afraid to use your gapcloser to jump back to the boss. Just make sure everyone is clear on where they spread, for example by having melee DPS stay and tanks move clockwise to the next cardinal.

Transfers the memory of the last executed mechanic(s) to a newly created clone of Black Cat.

The clone starts out asleep. After it wakes up, it executes the stored mechanics in order.

Dispels Nine Lives Nine Lives, One-two Memory One-two Memory, Four-crossed Memory Four-crossed Memory, Four-swipe Memory Four-swipe Memory, Two-swipe Memory Two-swipe Memory, Leftward Memory Leftward Memory, and Rightward Memory Rightward Memory.

    04:37
    04:37
    Nine Lives Store

Grants Nine Lives Nine Lives to Black Cat. All mechanics executed while in this state are recorded and later stored within a Soulshade.

After execution of said mechanics, Black Cat gets another status effect for the types of mechanic executed:

    • One-two Memory One-two Memory for One-two Paw
    • Four-crossed Memory Four-crossed Memory for Quadruple Crossing
    • Four-swipe Memory Four-swipe Memory for Quadruple Swipe
    • Two-swipe Memory Two-swipe Memory for Double Swipe
    • Rightward Memory Rightward Memory for a rightward leap
    • Leftward Memory Leftward Memory for a leftward leap
Note that Soulshade "transfers" these status effects to a clone. However, as the clones cannot be targeted, it is impossible to review the status effects (and therefore the mechanics executed) by a clone after Soulshade is cast.

Quadruple Crossing ×4 Cone spread (close)

This clone then targets either all DPS players in sequence, or all support players in sequence, executing Elevate and Eviscerate (Knockup) on 2 targets and Elevate and Eviscerate (Slam) on 2 targets.

This attack can never target the player targeted by Elevate and Eviscerate.

4 sets of 2 targeted cones and 2 stacks.

Spawns two passable tethers originating from the boss. In each set, both tethered players are targeted by Raining Cats (Cone), a conal spread that inflicts Slashing Resistance Down Slashing Resistance Down.

Additionally, the farthest player from Black Cat is targeted by Raining Cats (Far Stack) and the closest player by Raining Cats (Close Stack), chariot stacks that inflict Magic Vulnerability Up Magic Vulnerability Up.

  • Intended

The intended strategy for this mechanic is to define an order for the tethers (for instance MTHR for melees, tanks, healers, rangeds), then have the players separate from the group and soak a tether in that order while the rest of the party splits into two light parties. These light parties should be different from the usual light parties: put melees and tanks into one light party and place it close to Black Cat, and put healers and rangeds into the other light party and place it far from Black Cat.

  • MTTT

    Not recommended.

A "cheese" strat whereby the first two sets of Raining Cats proceeds as in the intended strat, with melees soaking the first tethers and tanks soaking the second set, but instead of passing the tethers off to the healers or rangeds for the third set, tanks keep their tethers and pop invulns. Additionally, since they're already invulnerable, one tanks positions themselves close to the boss and one tank far from the boss, to ensure both tanks get both stacks.

The reason this strategy is generally not recommended is because the positioning to make this work is extremely precise. In order for the tanks to take both stacks, all other party members have to be at a medium distance to Black Cat, i.e. farther away than the inner tank but closer than the outer tank. Since tanks are melee jobs, meaning that the maximum distance the outer tank can be is max melee, this creates an extremely narrow space that all other party members must stay in.

If you run your own group, consider modifying this strat such that tanks still invuln the third and fourth sets, but instead of attempting to bait both stacks, have both tanks stand in the middle of Black Cat's hitbox such that they only bait the close stack while the party continues to bait the far stack.

    Predaceous Pounce (+ 10 others) Chariot multi-AoE

Black Cat's clone telegrahps a number of large chariot AoEs as she dashes around the arena.

Note that the path she takes to get from one AoE to another is a line AoE and also deals damage.

As Black Cat uses One-two Paw at the same time as the clone executes Predaceous Pounce, it is necessary to find a safespot somewhere in the center of the arena.

Like Mouser, but this time executes 32 AoEs across 8 steps (4 per step).
